An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a certain website. Every file which was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have one webpage with three embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for any of the 6 files that were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log normally shows the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s Operating System, browser and IP address. Sometimes you could also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your website. The information an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can also be processed by special software on a personal computer and used to write reports on the overall performance of a site, independent of the web stats that your hosting server may have created.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting

Our custom Hepsia Control Panel includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your cloud website hosting account and take a look at this section, you'll find a list of all the domains and subdomains which you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you'll see a download link together with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your computer and examine it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantly, so if you no longer require one, you may stop it with just a click from the very same section of the Control Panel. You'll still have the ability to access the already created content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our sophisticated web hosting platform shall create access logs for every single site hosted within a semi-dedicated server account, as long as this feature is activated. All domains and subdomains that you have shall be listed in the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, that we offer with all of the accounts, so if you need our system to start creating logs for any of them, you should just click on the compact button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You could deactivate this function anytime by following exactly the same steps. You will find a Download link for each log within the very same section of the CP, so you may save the content gathered by our system in .txt format with only a click. An existing log file may be downloaded even after the feature has been deactivated, so you will still be able to view the data that's already been generated.
